Jim Rodgers was born and raised in the rural suburban countryside of northern New Jersey. He studied at the Art Students League in New York City and attended the Ridgewood Art Institute. His paintings focus on the essential details emerging from painterly and impressionistic inspirations in a contemporary sense.
Mr. Rodgers paints a wide range of subject and subject matter: from lush American and European landscapes to elegant and sophisticated still life and floral renderings. His paintings reflect richness in tone and color in his style that comes from over 30 years of professional study and numerous sojourns throughout America and Europe.
Jim’s traditional and American impressionistic training has been augmented by his wanderlust traveling across America as a working artist as well as his many trips abroad including destinations such as England, Ireland, France and Italy. These journeys helped to produce the subject matter and inspiration that is the basis for his painterly impressionistic style. His intention is to capture the mood of the scenes he has painted “en plein air” and rendered in his studio to give the viewer the glimpse of what he has experienced. He tries to evoke an emotional response from the viewer through his poetic portrayal of nature.
Jim Rodgers currently resides in the bucolic countryside of Lancaster, Pennsylvania with his wife of 30 plus years. His daughter and her husband who reside nearby are expecting their first child in July 2012. Jim is a self-professed bookafile. His interests range from western philosophy to Buddhism to travel memoirs and all subjects in between. In his spare hours, Jim enjoys indulging in the stock market, swimming to keep in painting shape, and maintains a voracious zest for life which is the origin of his artistic nature.
Robert Paul Galleries is proud to be chosen to show the works of American artist Jim Rodgers.
